Our 24 Level 2, 3 and Standards specific recipes, and the package of support which sits alongside them, allow our partner colleges to develop region-wide reputations as the ‘go to’ place for hairdressing training. To create ‘Michelin Star’ hairdressing students, we must first create 'Michelin Star' Trainers

The Training Package

The premise on which the LSE model works is explained in ‘The Omelette Analogy’ with our focus being on ensuring that all students receive top quality training in a standardised form.

Prior to opening, the college hairdressing team attend a Level 2 training programme (held in College) which entails:

3 Week Full Time Training (9.00 – 5.00) on the 17 recipes which make up the Level 2 offer
2 Days Supplementary Training on Hair Extensions and Perming to meet requirements of the apprenticeship standard

All training is supported by recipe books and videos

At the end of the first year:

Level 3 Training 1 Week Full Time Training (9.00 – 5.00) on 5 Recipes at Level 3
Undertaken at the end of the First Year

At the end of year 3 staff excitedly complete a five-day Creative Hair training week with modern and commercial techniques which are an inspiration to all.

Support Materials

The curriculum requirements of both Level 2 and Level 3 are segmented into the "Recipes", with there being 17 recipes at Level 2, 5 recipes at Level 3 and optional recipes to meet the requirements of the apprenticeship Standard.

Each recipe is fully supported by a step by step guide, which we call a 'Recipe Workbook', and each of these is, in turn, presented through a full length (c. 20 minute) video which guides the student (or teaching staff) from the start to the finish of each recipe to a Michelin Star outcome. All videos are available on-line and are fully responsive to mobile technology.

The College Artistic Director (CAD)

In addition to our written materials, videos and the qualification specific training, we have a unique additional layer of support.

The CAD is a full time LSE employee with experience in both education training as well as hairdressing, who will directly support your college in:

Assisting trainers to achieve the targeted standard
Delivering inspiring provision to student group
Coaching and guiding trainers to success
providing training for new 'in year' staff starts
....and generally, be available to answer questions and be A HELP TO YOUR COLLEGE

That's someone available to support YOUR COLLEGE throughout the year. Much of that time will be spent "on location" with your team.
